Sony SS-G1 mkII vs. SS-E70?

Does anyone know what's the biggest difference between these speakers? Would they couple together well if I wanted to use both pairs for all channel stereo? It's my personal preference with my receiver at the moment as I feel "enveloped" by the music whereas 2 channel stereo just feels less "wide". I know that pairing with exactly same model would be optimised but I'd have chance to grab E70's and I'm tempted to see how this model sounds. If they don't pair well, I'll just do some testing by interest and keep the other as spare set (in case I end up buying the pair) :)

So, I have SS-G1s and I'm kinda interested in pair of SS-E70s on the side of them.

Dimensions and speaker terminal sizes seem quite identical. Isn't both of them made in Germany by the way (or at least part of them if I recall)? Some comment I came across claimed "E70 was step down from G-series" yet all specs seem very similar to me as is their looks.

Does anyone see or know major differences and to which model's advantage? Was G1s more expensive than E70s originally? Couldn't find much info or user comments especially on the part of E70s.

Ok, I got the pair of SS-E70s and first impressions after few days is that they seem to pair with SS-G1s rather well! I'm just rather regular listener rather than someone more in-depth into audio gear, but for me it sounds good! The sound don't seem to differ much from SS-G1s. To my knowledge they both should feature speaker drivers made by SEAS and assembled in Germany by WEGA, but I don't remember where I read that on the part of SS-E70s, so not confirmed. SS-E70s have same size speakers, except for the tweeters that are smaller than G1s.

I may be imaging, but to be it sounds like SS-G1s sound is very, very slightly more soft and "broader", larger, but if so the difference is very minor. I wouldn't know where that came from if the parts in exception of tweeter was the same. Regardless, they produce really similar sound listening by ear and finding difference is rather hard.

Well, I'm happy so far. I'm pretty sure this fronts+surrounds combo will serve me for some time for music and movies for smaller apartment.

I had smaller, bit newer Sony's as surround speakers before (paired with SS-G1s as fronts) that somewhat seemed to mess up multi channel stereo making the overall sound worse than when running SS-G1s alone. Their difference and speaker quality in general was probably way too large, but I don't find the same effect now with SS-E70s combined and they sound tons better in Mulci Ch. Stereo for music.
