Hey everyone, I need help. I just picked up a Sony ST-JX380 FM-AM Stereo Tuner for my Cambridge receiver, Its working without an issue but I Can’t get it to memorize stations. To make matters worse Sony doesn’t have a downloadable copy of the manual on line. Anyone happen to have a copy? I tried pressing and holding a number, nothing. I pressed the memory button then number I want it to go to, again nothing.

Manual is available at Hifiengine. Downloaded it this morning. Has a super cap .22F @ 5.5 volts. This holds the memory and it is common to fail after so many years. Much like a battery. It's located on the display/switch board.

Yeah I figured out how to program the stations but they do not hold. Your diagnosis is what I’ve been told it seems to be the capacitor. Hifiengine will not allow me to download a manual because I do not have an account and there is no way to crest an account so right now I’m stuck.

DM sent about the manual.

It's a bit odd that the memory doesn't program (per your description). Usually the symptom is that it appears to work as long as power is applied but memory is lost shortly after power is removed.

I’m pretty sure the memory back up which is a capacitor is shot. Just need a service manual to ver.

The controller maintains memory during "hold" for Vdd (pin 42) as low as 2 volts. Current drawn during hold is 0.5uA typical, 10uA max.
