Sony STR-6036 LED Replacement

Just bought a Sony STR-6036 for $30 in mint condition.. apart from one issue.

one of the LEDs has blown and not the one displaying the radio stations.

Anyways I open it up to replace the LED and come to find I can’t access the LED itself.
As a matter of face it the LED mount plate seems to be riveted to the face place.

What do you suggest?

If I understand correctly, you want to replace your tuning meter lamp. The reason you can't access it is because it is missing! What you are trying to open is the tuning meter itself. (Don't do it!) The lamp housing attaches behind the meter. In your last image, you can see the threaded holes on either side of the tuning meter where the lamp housing screws attach.

Download the service manual here. (You'll need to register, but it's free, and the site is a good site - no spam, etc.) Tuning meter lamp replacement is on page 10 of the service manual.

The parts (shade, flat spring and holder for the meter lamp) are shown in the exploded view on page 30 of the service manual, along with their part numbers, but most likely the only way to get those parts would be to find someone parting out an STR-6036.

BTW, LEDs were not used for illumination at the time you receiver was built. It would have been an incandescent lamp. (From the images in the manual, it appears to be what's known as a fuse lamp.)
