Sony STR 6046A - Left Channel low. HELP!!

Hi every one. Hoping I can get some help here.

I have a Sony STR 6046A ... which i I love ... but the left channel is virtually silent. I've seen some other posts on similar issues, but it appears that playing with the Bass pot seems to effect the issue.

I have not used a contact cleaner yet, but intend to today ... that said, I have doubts it'll solve the issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok ... so, I've now cleaned the pots with electrical contact cleaner and no change. Interestingly, and similar to this other thread (https://audiokarma.org/forums/index...tr-6046a-post-deoxit-channel-problems.707715/), when I power off the unit the volume in the left channel normalises for just a moment.

Has anyone come across this before?

First of all, if you didn't use Deoxit to clean the controls, you may not have gotten them clean. It's the only thing that removes oxidation. Second, you need to clean the switches as well.

Thanks! Deoxit isn't so easily purchased in Ireland ... but I'm sure I can get it somewhere.

Failing that ... there's an American gentleman reasonably close by, that repairs HiFi gear.

A little late to the party, but make sure to clean that switch on the back that connects/disconnects the pre and amp section. Iirc its center and towards the top.
