Sony STR 6055 problem......

I recently got a great deal on a Sony STR 6055(only $30 for it with old school HK 40 speakers). Anyway, after running some fader lube and so on some of the pots, I decided it needed to go to someone who was better at this than me(to work on the tuner, lights, check out the amp). I took it to the shop that worked on my Sansui G9000, and they worked on it and I picked it up. I used it last night hooked up to the Harman Kardon HK40's, and I was making sure everything worked. I found that the function knob where you can change it from Auto Stereo to Mono and so on still makes a FWIT sound(static) through the speakers when rotated. It is less pronounced than before but still there, but maybe it is supposed to do that, although my Sony STR V6 does not. Is there an easy way for me to get at the pot? Or should I take it back to the shop and have them do it since they somehow did not resolve it?

Edit: I talked to the repair place and because the AM board does not work, that is probably the reason that it makes that sound when turning that knob. I do not listen to AM so it does not bother me.

I think the fact that there is no AM or board not working, the mute circuit off that switch simply has nothing to mute. Kinda like the old tv's where there was no frequency to change to so shop is probably right. So you switch to Aux2.. turn the volume down if loud. aux 1 is on the source switch.

I have my pc connected to Aux 1, I run flac and wav files to it via my Emotiva Little Ego. It sounds great other than this, I just leave it on auto\fm.

I'd try a (another?) round of deoxit (not faderlube) on that switch. Just a little amount of deoxit, cycle it many many times, repeat if necessary.
I've got two 6055's now, and both had that sound when flipping the function switch and the rotary selector. Took a few rounds for me.
Although I don't understand the am board mute reason, maybe that is it.

The previous owner had somehow spilled liquid on the AM board, I guess frying it. The guy was 87 years old and things happen. I mean it sounds great aside from that. I am listening to the 6055 right now actually. How hard is it to get to that pot for the rotary selector(AutoStereo)? The function switch on the other hand AUX/Phono has no problem at all.
