Greetings-

I am a relative noobie so please excuse my ignorance regarding this issue. I recently acquired a Sony STR 6800 sd for a pretty reasonable price. One issue I have right out of the box is that the treble and bass knobs are not original. OEM knobs were split so that you can adjust the treble and bass for each speaker. Kind of cool but probably something I wouldn’t necessarily do. Anyway, I am wondering whether anyone knows where I can source those OEM knobs. I’ve looked on the usual auction sites and no luck. Just thought I’d see if anyone here has any thoughts.

Use the alert feature at the usual auction site so you'll be notified of a set being listed, check out the other audio websites such as US Audio mart, etc.

Or you could pony up $25 to become a subscriber, where you'll be able to place a bonafide WTB ad for the knobs. The subscription fee is good for a year and opens up a lot of related forums wherd you can find deals unavailable to non-subscribers.

Going to move this over to the Solid Statei forum. No tuner content here.

The chrome caps on the split tone controls often fall off and go missing. Expand your search to STR-5800, STR-6800, STR-7800 since they all use the same knobs. Be patient since they do occasionally pop up.

Thanks for the responses. I’ll keep looking for the knobs. I just purchased a one year membership. This is a great forum and I’m glad to support it.

Make sure to visit the Barter town forums here, and place a WTB ad in the parts section. The ads last 14 days so you may have to renew (at no cost) the ad periodically until the right person sees the ad.

One never knows, but can't catch a fish until the hook's in the water.

Good luck and here's hoping for success.
