I have a Sony Str V4 receiver which I have been refurbishing new lights fixing veneer another odds and ends I still have a problem with the FM and phono output on the right Channel with intermittent distortion I cleaned everything with the deox it for the pots have tested for power along the channels diagrams for the V3 diagrams will let me know and I have come to the IC 301 MX P chip I'm going to try to replace that by resoldering it. anyone has any guidance before I go through all this I would appreciate it

I have cleaned and lubricated where the brass points meet the cross shaft actually screwed up and hit it with D5 deoxit and through the FM resistance reception into outer space but then cleaned it back off the contact cleaner so I said it's pretty clean at this point so I got the FM back to where it should be but would this really affect the phono input on that channel through that FM is a little above my head I am electrician but these Electronics were made about eight years before I was born so I just need a little guidance but I appreciate the help

The trial and error of this is making me crazy I cn run my phono through a external pre amp into the aux/tape inputs with no distrotion but the phono fm/am is bad though the right channel have read everything from caps to transistors on the fm board and have found similar problems on this thread need a tech that has seen this by ic301 chip only outputs 5v to each channel input is correct the v 3 diagram says 6v to channels being intermittent makes it all the harder to properly diagnose thanks in advance for any insight

I would make it certain that the selector switch is not causing your problem. Rotate it many times with the unit power off. This might clean the switch enough to let you see if there is an improvement.
