Sony STR V5 and STR VX5

Hi,

I am curious about the Sony STR V5 and STR VX5.

Is the STR VX5 the next generation STR V5?

I read the Vintageknob site and I bet the difference is the Legato Linear circuits which I have a very vague idea about - however Super Legato Linear circuits...

What is the pulsed power? According to Wiki seems to be reserved lasers and particle accelerators…

Just being curious…

Thanks

John

By the late 70s, the first switching power supplies were showing up in audio gear. This was big step in reducing the weight of receivers - especially after the Monster Receiver Wars were over.

Thus, the vendors started using terms such as Pulsed Power to really mean New And Improved. Today of course, we take switching supplies for granted.

Cheers,

David
