sony str -v5 came in today!!!!!

I think the only difference is the 5950's Dolby FM capability and the headphone jack.

They are both great tuners, among the best of all tuners and very underrated.
 
The 5950 is also a 5 gang tuner, the 4950 is only 4 gang so the 5950 does have slightly better sensitivity and selectivity specs. On the other hand the 4950 doesn't have the (now worthless) dolby circuitry so the signal path is a little simpler and some people that have compared them say the 4950 may actually have a little cleaner sound because of it.

New member today, newly acquired Sony STR-V7 yesterday. Listening to it now. Quite impressive clean sound !!

I'll get more involved with a new thread later. I need to do more listen-play and open it up for slight cleaning.

I really like it. Its in my home office right now driving a pair of Ed Frias DIY bookshelves that I built.

I have many other speakers to toy with as well.

Did alot of posting today being my first member day.:music:
 
Sony STR-v5 vs Sony STR-6800

Both are at 85 wpc but what are the differences and which is better? I have the V7,5 and 4 models-I was going to collect the whole line but...
