sony str v5 or v6

hi would anyone happen to know where i can get low pass filters for the am/fm board for a sony strv5 or v6 and i think the v7 has the same low pass filters i need both of them there are two side by side on the board or maybe someone might have the whole board it doesn;t need to work longs the low pass filters are ok i would be very greatfull for your help thank you

i would contact terry dewick ,he has worked on my v6 and v7 in this line .if there is an answer he would be the man to have it ,i would bet.:thmbsp:
 
What has led you to conclude that you need _both_ low pass filters? I'm assuming this is for replacement, of course.

It is a bit of an unusual request....

I've owned a V5 and two V7's and none of the tuners worked very well because of the exposed gang. All were noisy and needed flushing of the gang and further adjustments before they would go into stereo.

I'll give our poster the benefit of the doubt, here, and I don't mind helping folks who post here.

The problem in this case is that the original post contains brief descriptions of some sort of problem presented in a disjointed way. There are no symptoms presented, nor are what, if anything has been done in the way of and the OP presumes a diagnosis.

I'll post again only in this thread if there is a more clear post with content that can be used to diagnose a problem.

This reminds me of my days on a repair bench when I'd get a receiver in from a customer with a note that said, 'doesn't work - limit of $30 to repair'.

I have a V-5 in my garage. It works good, but could benefit from a real antannae. It also was my first real piece of stereo in the the mountains of Germany. It pulled in many stations that I couldn't understand. I think it's 4 gangs.
 
David, I'm not sure I understand your "rant". The creator of the thread is asking for a sorce of a particular part and not asking for advice as to diagnosing a problem. We've got a number of persons posting similar requests as to all kinds of parts from bulbs to caps, resistors, i.f. cans, faceplates, knobs, pc boards, transformers, diodes and just about every other part imaginable.
 
Strawman, nice garage unit! I have a V5. They have the same 5 gang tuner as the V6 and V7 but from what I can tell lack wide/narrow and one RF amplification stage compared to those. I dont know if it is because of the exposed gangs, but mine will not pull in stereo FM either and needs cleaning/alignment. Quite common with this design over time apparently. Beautiful sounding piece.
 
Maybe the garage isn't the best place for it then. :scratch2: I think I'll pull it and put an Accurian amp & tuner in there instead. I hope the OP is making some headway.
 
Since we haven't heard back from the OP, I'll stray a little. I once owned the V5 and V7 at the same time and honestly, I could not tell the difference between the 85 wpc and 150 wpc amp sections. Aside from a few less switches, the V5 is every bit as good and IMO, one of the best audio values out there. The V7 is also undervalued by the market with excellent examples going for low $.

Ok, that's a bit better. If its both channels together, then its likely something that's common to both. I'd be looking at the power supply but only after I had confirmed that the power amp is working first. I suspect that these models will have separate preamp-out/power amp-in jacks on the back.

Do you get anything through the headphone jack?

Also do you hear a click just after you power up the unit? This is a speaker protection relay that's in place to keep any sort of fault in the power amp from getting to the speakers.

No pre/main jacks on the V-5. Thanks for the info Raynald, I thought it was only a 4 gang tuner. As David stated, listen for the relay click. Do you get any sound from the tape/aux inputs?

hi again david everything is working except the fm i get very low sound even on the headphones i put a couple of capacitors across the low pass firters get louder sound so i know thats what it is i could try bigger ones but i want to fix it right so i need those two low pass filters if anyone knows where i could get them i would be greatfull or an fm board it dont; have to work longs the filters are ok thank you all for your help by the way how do you flush the gang out i never try to clean one before looking at the threads i saw where they are exposed and i agree with that thanks again to all
