Sony TA-1150 vs. 1140 vs. 1130?

Good day all.

I recently acquired a Sony ST-5150 tuner as I have wanted to have a Sony separates system from this era for some time. I always assumed the TA-1150 amp would be the appropriate compliment, but now I find that there was also an 1140 and 1130 amps as well, and in fact the output power rating goes up as the numbers go down.

Is the 5150/1150 pairing the "correct" one? Following the numbers, I assume the 5130/1130 are also "paired"? At least the 1130 doesn't have the dreadful sliding volume pot.

Any insight is appreciated!

The lower the number the earlier the generation. Circuit change considerably.

I have been through the Vintage Knob pages. If we are talking about the amplifiers, I did not assume the lower numbers were earlier, but that make sense. Odd that they kept lowering the output. Thanks.
