Sony TA-4650 (Recap Work-log)

I replaced all the RCA jacks. I messed up one, so I had to order another. Since I had to get one, I figured I may as well pick up the additional four jacks for the Tape 1 input. It's mainly for looks, but I'm paying the S&H anyways so I may as well make it worth it.

I'm pulling together all the information I used and plan on consolidating it here. My parts list and manuals/service bulletins will be included. Hopefully it will make someone's life easier in the future.

:EDIT:

Here's a wrap up. This is everything I purchased from Mouser: http://www.mouser.com/ProjectManager/ProjectDetail.aspx?AccessID=1211c654df
Please note the issue I had with the 4700uf cap and plan accordingly.

I used Noctua NT-H1 Thermal Compound for the V-fets. I do a lot of computer work and I love this stuff. Seems to really do the trick. It's marketed for it's "long term stability".

I snagged the terminals from everyone's favorite auction site. Just search "Speaker Terminals"

Manuals:

A big thank you to EchoWars, Tim5, Helmuth and darko. Your threads and the help you gave others helped me so much.

A Special note for EchoWars: Thanks for making me search for it and figure it out myself. You were right. All the information is here, I just had to dig for it.:thmbsp:

I'll be sure to post final pics just as soon as I finish up the jacks. I just had time to gather all the info I used tonight.

Beautiful. I like what you have done with the speaker connections and RCA jacks. I hate the screw type speaker connectors on mine.

I have a completely original 4650 which has been in regular use since 1980. Never even had to clean the pots, just replaced the offensive diodes and adjusted the bias periodically.

Nice unit. Enjoy.

Thank you. The stock speaker terminals are awful. It's definitely a bit overboard, but the color coded jacks are nice. I would constantly second guess myself when hooking up the system.

You've known the secret then. I was shocked when I tested it after the recap. I finally heard why these get so many rave reviews.
