Sony ta-f3a

Hi Everyone,

I'm very new to this stuff, sorry if I have basic questions....

I just found a Sony TA-F3A on the street, of course I brought home to try out. It is plugged in, sound is coming out and t my ears it sounds great.

At the back there are outputs for 2 sets of speakers, Speakers A and Speakers B.

At the front there is a speaker knob that has three options:

-Speaker A
-Speaker B
- Off

There is no option for play through all speakers, Speaker A + B. What is up with that?

Also any thought on if this Sony TA-F3A is an upgrade on my SANYO JCX-2300K would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the help everyone!

A little late to the party, but to answer your question this 50WPC integrated amplifier sounds very nice,
has a big power transformer / PS but a weak output stage. Uses TO-220 transistors, 2sc1986 and complement
2sa771 on each channel. These transistors have the necessary voltage ratings, but lacks the current ratings
to support two sets of speakers. They will fail if driving a 4 ohm load or two sets of 8 ohm speakers simultaneously.
This is why the rear speaker nomenclature says 8 - 16 ohm for speaker output A or B, and is why the front speaker
selector switch does not have a "A + B" selection. Hope this info helps.
