Sony TC-D507 screeching and not playing

Hello everyone,

I'm new here and in need of your help.
A few years ago I bought a used Sony system which included a tape player that didn't work. Lately, I've been wanting to fix it and so I bought the belts and two motor gears to replace the original ones that were cracked. After those replacements, some cleaning and lubricating, deck A plays like a charm, but deck B does this weird screeching sound and doesn't even start to play. Given that I did the same exact things for both decks, I really can't seem to figure out what's wrong here.

A guess. Something got in the wrong place when reassembling deck B, after replacing the capstan belt. When going into play mode, gear 160 is going to engage with teeth on one of the capstan flywheels, and as it turns it is responsible for moving parts 162 and 155 around, via pins inserted into its cam tracks. Through a couple more linkages, maybe part 153 is what is supposed to rise and bring the heads and pinch rollers with it. Anyway see if a protruding pin on 155 or 162 is not properly in a track. (The scenario is that 160 starts to rotate and gets stuck because one of those pins is giving it a wedgie, the capstan flywheel stops, and the distress you're hearing is either the capstan motor or the belt.) You might be able to use deck A as a reference, though you're probably hesitant to take that one apart now.

Disclaimer: this could be a load of bollocks, and it's possible to make things worse by doing more disassembly. I don't know this particular deck, just making what sense I can of the diagram.

Thank you so much. Not gonna lie, for a newbie like me, understanding that diagram is not the easiest thing, but I really want to get this deck to work, so, with a bit of patience, I'll give it a try.
 
Well, I already disassembled both decks to make sure that everything looked the same and it does. Deck A is still playing great but B keeps doing those noises and stopping between cycles.
 
There is usually a lever or two in the upper cassette well that you can push up to get the mechanism to play without a tape loaded.
