Sony TC-K60 dimensions of belts ?

Hi guys,

This is my first post here.
Recently I got Sony TC-K60 for less then I spend on coffee. Cosmetically in good shape, LCD looks good, but unfortunately belts are shot, 2 out of 3 are stretch.
So I wondering if anyone know dimensions of belts.

> I was able to remove one without much digging and measured it.
Its 70mm diameter, 1.2x1.2mm square profile ( please confirm )
> The big one that wraps around flywheel is 4.2mm wide and looks like it is 0.5mm thick, but I cannot measure its length because I have to take out the flywheel. And I decided to take it apart only If I have spare parts on hands :)
> Belt connected to the counter seems to be in good shape.

Try to find another thread where someone has replaced the belts on that tape deck. Then you can ask that person where they got the belts and what size they were. One thing you will find out over time is that documentation is not always correct. And Websites, even less so.

Thank you for the reply, it seems like it is not so popular model though, hard to find information and service manual just refers to replacement OEM number without any specific details.
I will continue my search !
 
There is a you tube video I saw on replacing belts on tape decks, and the guy shows a technique for getting belt length. You could try to find that video. It would help. I’ll see if I can find it and post it here.
 
I finally got belts kit from from https://www.vintage-electronics.net, took quite a bit of time.
Before installing belts I've measured sizes:
Here are my findings:

Belt sizes for Sony TC-K60:
Capstan belt: 5.5x0.6 , length 264 mm
Reel belt: 1.2x1.2 , length 210 mm
Counter belt: 1x1 , length 180 mm
Capstan flywheel is 7.8mm thick so it can accommodate wider than 5.5mm belt.
Length measurements are not precise.

I’ve got two orders of belts coming. Some ordered over a month ago. The last order was to vintage-electronics on Saturday.

Over a month ago that probably me, it also took some time to fix it with all unexpected thing along the way.

Thank you! I was thinking I might just tape everything what I do then glue it together later.
I use Canon 6D fixed over the bench and Galaxy phone to shoot in hard to access areas.
 
Too funny! MySony TC-707ES belts arrived today. I had just asked the seller today if he had a tracking number because the belts were supposed to arrive on Monday.

I haven’t changed the belts yet. There is a tiny belt three layers into the chassis assembly, so I want to do it with good lighting tomorrow. I like how they have rests for one end of the belt while reassembling. And if I realign things correctly at the third layer, it should fix my door opening issue.
 
Well, I got the Sony K707ES done. That was major enough work to take apart last weekend. So tonight, I just finished my Nakamichi LX3. Now I understand why some say the Sony's are their favourite decks to work on. That was a bitch of a job to work on. And I didn't do the rubber tire. I wanted to, but I wasn't about to go that deep at this time in the evening. Imagine my surprise when it worked after all that! Now that I've done it once, it won't be so bad the next time when I go to do the rubber tire. Next deck is an Aiwa AD 6550.
 
I started on the Aiwa yesterday late afternoon, and all the belts went well. Then I decided to test before going too far, and I forgot to attach one item in the back of the drive mechanism. Now I have an eaten asserts in there, and it is stuck in play. :(

I think fixing this mistake will require more or a complete breakdown.

Yeah, This Sony was easy one in comparison to what I have to do to HK CD 401 to fix belts and Pinch roller :(

Ah, so you were the one that won that! I was considering it or the other HK. I decided I had too many projects as it is.
