Hello members, first time using this forum; please excuse any incorrect etiquette or usage. I have a Sony TC209SD that I recently bought to try and rescue an old one of a kind recording. The unit does not turn the take-up spindle when playing. I have observed that rewind causes a drive wheel to engage between the primary drive and the take-up spindle. I have also replaced the one belt in the unit that was shot; between the take-up spindle, the counter, and what seems to be the auto-stop sensor. They are all turning when rewind is engaged, and if I manually turn the take-up spindle when playing, the auto-stop sensor works because it only stops when I stop turning the spindle. Also, when I use a tape, the pinch roller and capstan do feed the tape, but, without the take-up spindle turning, it spills into the cassette or the deck. I can't figure out what is supposed to supply the slower speed drive force to the spindle for play operation? Any advice would be much appreciated...I can supply pics or video if that would help.
Thanks in advance.
