Sony TTS-3000-$275 San Diego

Ugh, I just bought my ARXA here in San Diego about two months ago. I don't think my wife could take it, although she'd prefer it. Turns out, manual turntables are definitely not her style. I don't think it's the same guy who sold me the XA, but they probably live about five minutes apart.

I think I bought a Dual 1219 from this guy, now that I think about it. Nice ex-Marine (once a Marine, always a Marine).

I sold the cartridge off of it for $75, so I essentially paid $65 for it. It's currently in pieces waiting for a full restore.

The price has dropped to $200!!! Run, someone! I wish I had the money, but, alas, I don't!

Going to see it in the morning. Don't need it but that is what i always say. Looks to cool to pass up.

Great! Let us know what happens, with pics and even maybe a YouTube video! :D

I really wanted it, but I didn't have any money (and still don't). I don't need any more possible hassles anyway. (the TT, not the guy, he's very nice)

I hope you get it and enjoy it a lot!

Well i looked at it but the tonearm had to many issues so i passed. Bought an Elac 10 H turntable for parts. Very cool guy with some very cool stuff. Had a pair of the big IMF speakers and some large Freid speakers. Might go back for some goodies in the future.

It even looks like it has the PUA286 tonearm!

I'm pretty sure the arm is a PUA-237. I have a 286 on my TTS-3000 as well as an unmounted 237 and the tube on the 286 looks a lot longer than the one in the photos.

If there are issues with the tonearm I'm betting one of them is a broken thread on the anti-skating adjustment. Yes, I did say thread - literally a piece of heavy black thread that is part of the mechanism that controls the amount of anti skating pressure applied. Probably the weakest part of the design. The one on my 237 is broken and I haven't yet determined the best strategy for replacing it since I can't actually see where it is attached at either end. That being said, unless there is a lot more wrong with it it's still a great deal.

Yeah, I thought that after I looked it up. Still nice if it was working better.
