Does the Sony TA-4650 use the same type of VFets as the Sony TA-5650 (the main power ones)? I own both, but my 5650 has only four good VFets and I would like to bring it back to original condition by replacing the dead ones with those from the 4650. Doable?

Doable if the ranks are the same or within -/+ 1 range. Has to do with the pinchoff voltage.

As Glenn says, take a pic of both amps' vfets and post them here if you can't figure it out. I'm sure EW will pitch in too!
