Just bought a Soulnote A3 as an upgrade to my Moonriver 404. The Moonriver was perfect really, but in a weak moment I visited a nearby dealer and he made me a deal I couldn't refuse..
My Graham LS5/9f speakers are definitely able to show some of the new amplifier's quality, and it's certainly quite an improvement. Of course it's a massive price difference, so this is to be expected! I tell myself it's astute that when i make an upgrade, it's got to be either significant in price, or in sound characteristic.
The amplifier is beautifully designed and constructed, and is lovely to operate. The sound is simply perfect, i cannot find any faults, and am not really interested in looking.. it's certainly not cuttingly analytically cold, but just does it's job without showing any discernible character. I love it!
I was also happy to see the quite modest power consumption. It's also just about liftable at 31kg. With 120 watts into 4 ohms, a set of Magnaplanar 1.7i speakers are on their way..
