Sound Dynamics Speakers???

Does anyone here know anything about Sound Dynamics speakers? I bought a set of fairly deep bookshelf units for $8 at a local thrift which look to be somewhat recent, although I have suspicions of these things being possibly "white van". It lists Sound Dynamics as a Canadian company, although they were built in China.

Yep, Sound Dynamics is a Canadian company. I don't think they are in business anymore. Late 80's, 90's era company I think. Respectable speakers but nothing exceptional as I recall.

Sound Dynamics is not a white van speaker.

They, along with Energy and Mirage, were a product if the Canadian speaker conglomerate API. Sound Dynamics was phased out and replaced in the early 21st century by Athena.

API was subsequently sold to Kipsch and Athena has pretty much been put to rest.

To keep costs down, many speakers are made in China.

The 300ti

was very highly reviewed in The Absolute Sound years ago, a giant killer if the reviews were to be believed.

I have never heard them myself....

Great sounding speakers. Sound Dynamics RT3. I will never sell my pair!

Audio Advisor sold one three-way model for years before it was discontinued.

For my first post with this forum I'd like to say I've had a Sound Dynamics subwoofer, THS-3000 model, for around 15 or so years. I use it in a strictly 2-channel system and have loved it's contribution so much that I haven't been able to convince myself to replace it. I suspect those speakers would be a fairly decent deal at $80...a steal at $8.
