Soundcraftsmen AE2420-R Analyzer/Equalizer in transit!!!

I'm happily awaiting delivery of my Soundcraftsmen AE2420-R equalizer analyzer. I love Soundcraftsmen and have been using an RP-2212 EQ for about 38 years now. But I've always wanted the analyzer too, so I'm excited about getting this hooked up and running.
I'd appreciate input from your experience on what type of mic to use, and if any of you have an owner's manual for the old girl, could you send me a link or the file if it's handy?
I did get a look at the schematics, and it's interesting that Soundcraftsmen went from inductors and capacitors to resistors and capacitors (and IC's) for their BP filters...at any rate, I'm glad to be adding to my Soundcraftsmen collection.:thmbsp:

I know this is an old post but I have an original AE2420 I bought new in 1981 plus the correct Soundcraftsmen SAM-II made specifically for use with the AE2420. About 15 years ago the mic quit working, I contacted Soundcraftsmen and they shipped me a new replacement at no charge. The person I spoke with told me there were less than 500 of these units ever produced.
 
@preiumplus, they only went with the ICs in those circuits to make it affordable and they work just fine for pink noise bandpass filters. The hand wound and tuned coils were for the audio EQ section on the top models such as the AE2000, DX4200, RP-2215-R, PE-2217-R and some others. The tuned coils vs ICs were the big difference between the DX4100 and DX4200 preamp-EQs. The price when new went from $549 to $699 for the coils. Even on the AE2000 with tuned inductors, still uses ICs in the analyzer filters. This is an old thread, did you get it working and what mic did you use? I have a AE2000 and a AE2420 that needs to be fixed and have not tried to use them yet.
@BoobyBluz Wow! didn't realize they were that rare. Might have to hold on to it. It is interesting that the one I have has the chrome ring around the big knobs like the older MA stuff had, but yet has a black face without the bare aluminum border.
