If you were debating whether to purchase one given the expense, I recently did and found it to be worth every penny. The improvement in detail, clarity and soundstage blew me away. And the cartridge I replaced was an MMC2, no slouch itself.

TT: Beogram 1800 5813
Cartridge: Soundsmith SMMC3
Amp: McIntosh 2505
Phono preamp: Parasound Zphono USB
Speakers:Tannoy XT6F
Preamp: Marantz NR1711

The Marantz is the weak link in this chain and will be replaced at some point down the road.

I've used them a couple times (none recently) and found the quality of their work excellent and when an issue arose very accommodating in its resolution. I have an MMC3 that needs tlc, but unfortunately that's where they draw the line on which carts they'll work on. If I ever get around to getting my Black Widow in playing form I'll be hard pressed not to buy one of their offerings.

agree

I have an SMMC2 & keep a B&O MMC4 around for old trashy records

Soundsmith makes a nifty adaptor so you can use them on non-B&O arms too

I see they also have "The Voice" available for B&O TT's

Just a side vere, if anyone knows...they show a number of carts on their site, not all looking like B&O rebuilds, do they sell their own carts as well? If so, are they usable in say, a Rega Planar P3? (I have NO idea what kind of compliance the Rega arm supports :dunno:) Thanx for informed replies!

They do. The one I bought is their cart, not a rebuild. And, yes, you can use them on non-B&O TT’s. They sell an adapter that you can use for that purpose. Some have opined that the Soundsmith carts perform better than the original B&O carts.

They sell regular style carts that fit on non-B&O turntables too. That's how I discovered Soundsmith.

Once I got a B&O turntable I decided to try one & I was not disappointed. I got an adaptor too, in case I want to put it on something else
