Yeah, it's a pretty fun soundtrack, I keep forgetting I have it though, need to give it another spin:yes:

I completely forgot about the music from Twin Peaks, that's a top priority for me now.

Speaking of Twin peaks, it may be worth testing Mike Pattons Sidegroup/supergroup Fantomas, they have an album of Theme song remixes called "The Directors cut"...it's fairly "out-there" and it's only kinda a soundtrack album, for for a different take on some famous themes, it's really unique.

Morricone's The Mission soundtrack is one that I frequently play.

Lately I've been playing the soundtrack of Under the Banner of Heaven, the FX/Hulu miniseries based on the Jon Krakauer book. The music, composed by Jeff Ament (of Pearl Jam) and others, is extremely intense, almost anxiety inducing, which is satisfying when that's what I want to hear.

This one might not appeal to what the OP Jaguar Ride is looking for, but just in case, I like Rob Simonsen's calming minimalist style. I know him best from a number of Julia Hart films, as well as the TV series Dollhouse. Simple piano, synth, acoustic guitar, etc., placed evenly around a left-center-right soundstage. His arrangements tend to be sparse yet not lacking in fullness.
