Source for SL-1200 parts?

I need a couple parts for an sl-1200mkii. The hard part is the top pivot screw for the tonearm. I also need the fixing plate that has the lift mechanism on it, and the tonearm clip. Those parts can be found without much trouble. Not sure where to get a screw though, the alternative is replacing the whole arm, over one missing screw.

Anyone know a source that has one?

KAB in New Jersey would probably be a good source for the parts. It occurs to me that the screw (and the arm base?) might have gone missing during an aborted attempt to repair the tonearm. It's very common for tonearms subjected to DJ abuse to have tonearm bearing problems. If you don't know the prior history of this table, buying an entire new arm assembly might be the more prudent approach.

It certainly is a DJ table, it seems someone dropped something on the arm. There is a dent in the arm, the clip is broken, and the lift lever is missing

Amazingly, my customer says he had used this table for shows, in its current condition. With the top pivot screw missing!!

I'd probably go for the new arm assembly. Even your customer apparently doesn't know why that pivot screw is missing. You could be dealing with bad bearings or stripped threads in the arm or both. Also, the increase parts cost to him would probably be largely offset by the reduction in bench time so, unless you're repairing this for free, it could pretty much be a wash for him.

I could try the screw off the other sl-1200 he brought me to test.

Though maybe using the table with the screw missing could damage the bearings?

Seeme the fixing plate and tonearm clip are sold separately from the arm, otherwise I would have to replace the whole assembly anyway.

Looks like this one could be a costly repair (and certainly I'm charging for labour, and he is still happy because any other place he could take it would charge more)

Without question the bearings could have been damaged by using it without the horizontal pivot, especially if using it involved DJing. I'd say it was almost a given because of the increased side loads on the bearings.

DJs that I have had experiences with will loosen that screw after the tone arm bearings gave been destroyed so they can continue to use the table. Without question that arm is cashed, replace it.

That's right! I forgot about that little "trick" of loosening or removing the horizontal pivot. Another thing is you don't just "put in a new screw". That's a needle bearing and the tension on it is critical. Installing a new one correctly requires special tools and special skill. With a new arm you get all new bearings adjusted at the factory.

Ordered all the parts I needed from this source, totalled $140. They still had the arm for $75, but technics increased the price, they are $130 now. But KAB had old stock so got it for $75. Thanks for mentioning the source, (my customer) saved probably about $80.
