Southern California AK Meet-up RSVP

Ok folks, it looks like Saturday, September 28 is our best day since there are some folks who do NFL on Sunday. We NEED A HEAD COUNT TO DETERMINE THE LOCATION THOUGH! It could be at an AKers place, or we may have to move to a public spot prescouted by @BirdOnAWire.

I’d guess it will be in the 10am-5pm range. We’re really, really lucky-there’s been a wealth of offers to bring gear, but we won’t have time to do it all! For this one, we’re going to go primarily tube with the line-up TBD. I’d envision a spring meeting that is mainly SS.

I’m reminded that there are AKers who live in rural areas or less densely populated places that don’t have the opportunity to hear such an array of gear.

I’ve always envied those East Coast and Mid-west AKfests. Well, this is a great chance to rebuild a West Coast presence in the Ak community that we all love. I’ve been on a lot of audio forums-AK is by far the most helpful and down-to-earth, and the AKers I’ve met in person are across-the-board dedicted and passionate about audio.

So let’s do this. Please reply to the thread so Bird and I can get an idea of how to plan. Try to reply within one week from today.

Peace and have a good weekend!

Maybe we can create a name for this and future events, similar to the Fall 2019 FrankenFest.
Some thoughts (some are corny!):
2019 Southland Audiorama, SoCal 2019 Fall Fest, SoCallapalooza 2019, Cali-AudioStylz 2019, 2019 Cali-stravaganza, 2019 Angeleno Audio Faire.
Feel free to give suggestions or variations of the above.

Sounds good to me....I'm in. If we need to find a venue, I'll look into the local VFW or American Legion halls near me. As a veteran, I'll see if they can cut us a good deal.

Will anyone be bringing excess gear for swap or sale ??
It's a possibility. Maybe even create another thread in BT to list equipment for sale which could be brought to the venue if there's interest. Any interested members can then PM each other for the particulars.

Not a bad idea as I am now in thinning mode.

Sorry to hijack but about that idea for a local gear page... I'm going to add here:
As soon as @Rmac587 says this meet is firm, I can create a sales thread in BT where we can post our wares and link it to the threads promoting this get-together.

There are way more SoCal residents here in AK than I expected. A simple search turned you guys up. My guess is this will become big by the time we have our next meet. Props to Rmac587 for getting the ball rolling!

We do have to follow BarterTown rules. https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/new-barter-town-rules-please-read.299028/
This BT "For Sale" thread should have a title advertising For Sale or Trade for the SoCal event alone, with the event date included in the title, and the thread should end at the event end date. The thread should be similar in style to the Frankenfest BT threads: https://audiokarma.org/forums/index...t-for-sale-thread-3-10-2018-sutton-ma.804301/

Sorry to divert, I'm stoked to see you guys coordinating a local meet up and hope to make it. I can bring some cool old gear if I do.

Come up with a name for the event and I'll change the title to whatever you guys decide.

Put me in the "Hope to attend" list. It seems to be birthday season for my kids' friends, so might need to weasel my way out of some commitments I'm not aware of...
