speaker advice for Kenwood systems?

Hello, I would be interested to hear people's thoughts on speakers to go with two Kenwood systems I recently put together from eBay & Craigslist:

Kenwood KA-8100 integrated amp
Kenwood KT-7300 tuner

Kenwood KA-5500 integrated amp
Kenwood KT-5500 tuner

Both systems are (supposedly) in good clean condition. The 1st is for me, the 2nd for my brother in law to celebrate their new baby. I figured the gift of vintage audio would be appreciated & loved Kenwood's styling & reviews!

What good quality, loud, vintage speakers - not too expensive, and in keeping with the sound & style of the two Kenwood systems - would folks recommend?

Thank you in advance for all feedback :)

I would recommend looking into your local Craigslist and looking for some JBLs or some Advent speakers.

Nice couple of pairs. Almost anything, really. I'd go with something ADS/braun for the 8100. You might want to get something ported for high-impact results with the 5500.

I have a KR-7050 running through Klipsch Kg4's. Been maybe four months since I got both pieces and I can't get enough of the sound! Paid 175 for the Kg's. 100.00 for the KR. I play mostly classic rock/jazz/some classical, prefer vinyl to CD, but the CD's sound great, too.

But to what iha1992 said above, I was looking for the Large Advents when I found the Klipsch's, and the guy I bought the Kenny through actually had the KR hooked up to some huge vintage JBL's and the sound was insanely great. I think iha1992 is onto something.

The guy wouldn't sell me the JBL's at any price, if that tells you something.

Thanks to everyone for the all the thoughts. Today I ended up buying a pair of re-foamed New Advents for the Kenwood 8100, & am looking locally at a pair of re-foamed Advent/1 (ie New Smaller Advent) for the Kenwood 5500. Oh, & this could become a problem, because I also have my eye on a little Kenwood receiver in a sweet wooden case...

In my opinion, vintage Genesis II's would be a great match. (not the current white van Genesis).

I recommend a pair of Kenwoods from that time period. Though it's a matter of what your ears like. My ears LOVE the LS-408B, LS-407B from that same vintage of Kenwoods gear, plus they match the components really well, visually and sonically. Very pretty true lumber core baffle and the 408 has pretty dark walnut veneer.
here's my pair- http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/album.php?albumid=951&pictureid=5716

PS-they will ROCK, and are as loud and clear as your amp can go without clipping.

Pretty much anything but I believe they'll give better results with more sensitive speakers, anything at least 88 db and up.

I've got JBL and cerwin vega for my KR 4010. Venturi and sony for my 5010. I've got to work on speaker location though - more speaker cable

If you want to keep your system all Kenwood, try some KL 888d's They are 98db efficiency, and sound good even without alot of power. They also have adjustable tone control. I run 6 of them, with 120 watts to each, but thats just me! They are a bit expensive, and shipping is high due to the size and weight, but they are pretty good speakers for the money.

Congrats-You will like the Advents.
I run a pair of Dynaco A-25's with my KA-8100/KT-8300 combo and it sounds great.

I have a Kenwood Model Nine Receiver and a pair of Model 9 Norman Labs (just a coincidence), they are an unbeleivable combo. The systems does not even have break a sweat and the house is rumbling.

I've got a KA-5700 and I'm using Celestion Ditton 100's right now and absolutely loving them. They sound way bigger than a speaker that small has any right to.
