Speaker advice

First post, big fan of the forum. I recently set up a system consisting of sx-950 and a pair of Dahlquist DQM-9 compacts. I have a line on some JBL L112s and am tempted to pick them up. Im hoping someone can weigh in on what i might expect from them compared to my current speaker. The dahlquist sound fantastic but do lack low end in my opinion. Thanks in advance

The JBL 112 should sound pretty fantastic. I would not wait too long or they will be gone. If you don't overpay you should be able to get back every penny you paid for them if you decide you don't like them.

I'm one of the few people here who apparently isn't as in love with JBL as much as everyone else so with that being said if all you want is more bass then the JBLs will probably deliver. However, the drivers in the Dahlquists, I believe, are superior to those in the JBLs and will produce more musical, detailed and accurate sound across the range.

I've had 8 pairs of JBLs and sold them all as they were worth way more to someone else than they were to me. My DQM-9s aren't going anywhere.

You might also find that better amplification(ie: more) might give you what you want with either speaker.

Don't sell the Dahlquists before you A/B the two.

Good luck

Eric

Thanks for the replies. I certainly wont be parting with the Dahlquist. If i add the JBL it would be run on B... I also love the DQM9c. Eric, do you have the compact or the regular 9?

I have some Dahlquist DQM-3's that sound awesome with a powered subwoofer taking care of the lower octaves. They are 2 way speakers but I imagine the sub would help. Have not heard a pair of L112s' but do hear they are great :)

Yeah, welcome there seeholmes!
Review of JBL L112.
I've had a couple of Studio Monitor and Control Monitors that were close to the L112 and thought they were an awful good speaker. You may find them moved over to your "A" channel, right quick.
