Thanks for sharing your personal observations. Your experiences mirror my own, i.e. Monster Cable multi-stranded copper wire is pretty so-so.

This thread should probably be moved to TOL.

It's been years since I tried Tara Labs. I would certainly be willing to try it again one day. Right now I'm quite happy with Van den Hul for interconnects and am using their speaker cable as well. I would like to try Chord Company Carnival Silver Screen or Rumour as speaker cable in this setup. I have a couple of old lengths of Carnival Classic that I may try.

I have never tried fancy high dollar cables because I can't afford to. I have tried many different low end cables including Carol heavy duty extension cord, Canare quad star (or something like that) and Monster, as well as several others. The differences are very obvious in my opinion, and some cables sound better in some systems because of their specific coloration. My favorite of the bunch, the one that to me sounds the least colored and the most "live" or "real"? The Carol extension cord wire you find at Home Depot.Made in USA and has thick rubber on the outside in black and sometimes yellow. A good heavy gauge of this tinned on both ends with silver solder sounds really good. It seems to allow you to hear your system, and not your cable. Just my opinion of course.

Thanks for sharing. I haven't used any Tara Labs speaker wire, but I've gone through several pairs of their newer interconnects, and I liked them - the Vector 1 especially. Although I don't see that model on the Needledoctor website anymore, I wonder if they've canceled it. They're a highly reputable company as far as results go. Stereophile and TAS seem to reference Tara Labs' higher-end cables more than any other when explaining what setup they used for a component evaluation.

I will point out that I'm not at all a fan of their RCA connectors - any thoughts on whatever your speaker cables are terminated with? Additionally, I had their Air 1 interconnect, and the damn thing was so stiff it ended up breaking (the wire)!

Do you know what model Tara Labs speaker cable you have there?
