Speaker grill cloth glue?

Dunno... A staple Gun Works "fine' on the hi density Plastic Seat cradle frame of a Yama Motorcycle.
And it gets a helluvalot more 200 pounder action on it than a silly Speaker Grille cloth

Polycarbonate is much harder than the high density polyethylene used in seat frames, you'll never drive a staple into polycarbonate.

I redid a set of JBL grilles using a hot glue gun. Fast and quik grab, so it worked very well. Just remember you can't use your finger to spread the glue, so apply 3-4" at a time, stretch, place, hold for maybe 20-30 seconds, go on to the next few inches!

Thanks tonyk-
dern motorcycle nuts are everywhere!
just don't run over any, they leave a huge mess.:tears:

So many good options! I'm
Used to working with aileen's to secure tiny corners that come loose or small tears, but not sure I want such a long dry time to do the entire thing. Hot glue... hmmm... maybe. But, the poly frames don't seem porous enough for it to really stick well. I wonder if I'm wrong on that?

seems to ME the best glue is DAP style 'rubber cement'
good grip and water proof for when you want to wash the grills down the road.

I decided to try the Aleen's glue route. It worked! I glued one side and put mini clamps on it. An hour later, I moved to the next side and glued/clamped it. Slowly, but surely, I was all the way around the grill frame and finished!

So, my vote, at least for the HPM-100 grills is to use Aleen's.

Those look amazing! Would like to see more HPM speakers done in JBL bright colors. Orange would be cool. Where did you get the camel color grill cloth? I'm doing a set and after seeing yours just decided on that camel color.

Thanks

I picked it up on Amazon, since I had some points to spend there. It was enough to do both grills, for around $30 after shipping.

Your grills appear to have turned out very nice, good job. As an FYI Aleene's can usually be purchased much cheaper at a local Wally World or Hobby Lobby, no affiliation. I have been using Aleene's for many years for replacing surrounds, securing crossover components, sealing cabinets, and whatever else I can think of.

for grilles I've used the loctite shown (I think it's actually the equivalent of 3M super 90, which is sticker and holds up better to heat than super 77) or I've used my hot glue gun. the hot glue gun works pretty darn good....
