Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum, so forgive me if I am asking a question already answered. I searched on "Hook Up Wire" (the wire inside the speaker cabinet from crossover to drivers), and found much discussion about the diameter size of the wires. Okay, I get that "Using a 16-18 gauge copper wire of decent quality but don't spend thousands" is about right. What I would like to ask is if anyone knows anything about the lengths of the different hookup wires.
I have an old set of tower speakers with a great sound to which I am refoaming the bass drivers. While I am at it, I thought I would change out the hook-wires inside because they look a bit corroded after years of use. I noticed that the wires going to the tweeters and mids are about 1/2 the length of the those going to the woofers, due to placement of the drivers in the box and location of the crossover.
When I replace those wires with something new, do I need to concern myself with making all those wires the same length as they already are, or the same length of each other, or does it really not matter much considering the overall lengths of the wires and the minimal resistance offered by such short wires?
Any help you folks can offer would be greatly appreciated!
