Speaker I.D.

Hi All, I acquired a pair of speakers at a thrift store recently and would like to find out what brand they are. I find nothing on them to indicate. They are very well crafted to be home-made, plus the plastic fronts.

The tweeters are Scan Speak from Denmark, and woofers Audax from France.They have an inner partition with ports, the front chamber is lined with gray padding, with loose baffling in the lower portion and rear compartment.

I sent an inquiry to CAD Audio in Denmark who said they are not theirs.

They sound good, not great.

Does anyone have an idea what these are?

Thanks for the replies. Madisound is the one company I found that sells Scan Speak and Audax, so the
y are a good possibility. I don't see any of the molded plastic front panels on their site. These speakers are probably 10+ years old at least.

The build quality, finish and feel are competitive with many better brands of speakers. I haven't listened a lot, but I wasn't drawn to the sound. Not bad, but certainly not exceptional to my ear. Highs were rough with some music.

I identified the cabinets as Dayton Audio, 1 cu. ft., probably from Parts Express. Thanks for the replies.

It almost looks like someone tried to clone a Rega speaker. Somewhere between a Jura and an Ara in size...

That's definitely a kit. Could be an older Parts-Express cabinet. Sounds like you have some nice drivers in there. What does the crossover look like?
