Speaker ID Help Please

Bought these speakers at Goodwill for $5. Cabinet construction was good, Grill/speaker cloth is a basket weave style which gives them a 1960s look. They are made in Japan. So worth risking $5. I have not looked inside yet but they appear to be 2 way speakers, 7 inch and 3 inch speakers. There is a tag on the back that says SPEAKER FOR MODEL 9160 OR 9170 MADE IN JAPAN. About 16" x 12". Pictures shown from a eBay sale where the seller does not know the origin.

I did grab them at $5. I opened the back and a picture of what was stamped is posted. HOKUTONE 8 ohms 6 watts, max 14W.. A bit of a disappointment?

Agreed. Drivers don't look that impressive, and the crossover is almost nonexistent. Woofer running full range, one cap for the tweeter. If you have a use for em and they sound OK, consider replacing that cap - it's probably 4 to 10 uf and not very expensive.

Will try them out soon. Who knows, they may be keepers. And changing the caps should be cheap and easy.
And I was so hoping they were vintage Pioneer, Marantz or such that had lost their tags.
