So I have some updated info on these. I talked to two different speaker shop owners and they both say that they have seen many of these speakers. This color is rare and most are in a walnut grain. So a local cabinet maker near Huntington, IN had made a couple of speaker cabinets for himself and used Pyle components in them. Pyle as most audio buffs know is Headquartered in Huntington, IN as well. So after this guy created a couple of hundred speaker cabinets in his barn, he had gotten with engineers at Pyle and they created a joint venture to make these speakers. One of these engineers that worked at Pyle back in the 80's when these were made, now owns a speaker shop here in Fort Wayne, IN. He has a couple of sets of these in a more traditional wood grain finish but also has a pair that has two 12" woofers in each speaker, one above the other and the cabinets are taller. I was fortunate to locate and speak with him today. He said that they wanted a very durable cabinet, and also wanted it to be reasonably priced and sound good. So they created the Stradovarius SG-50 and SG-60. The -50 has a 12" woofer and the -60 has a 15" woofer. The cabinet covering is plastic laminate so that it is durable and resists cigarette burns etc. Most were sold in Northeast Indiana. I will vouch for their claims. These things are built like tanks, and sound absolutely amazing!! The history portion of this is very interesting. I also have a friend whose wife's grandfather is Frank Pyle who with his father Frank Pyle Sr. created the Pyle Driver brand!! Pretty cool stuff. So these weren't white van speakers. They actually were legitimate speakers.
