Speaker ID

Can anyone help me identify these speakers I just bought tonight? There are no markings anywhere on the cabinets. They measure about 24x14x13" and are quite heavy. All drivers are Jensen, 12" woofer, 8" mid and RP-107 horn tweeter. The crossover caps have 1967 date codes. Any ideas who made them?

I think they might be Jensens like you said. I've seen these cabs before, and with these drivers, I think. Is that an alnico magnet on that woofer? The mid and horn look like alnico, but it's tough to tell what the woofer is because of the angle of the picture. Those should be nice with tubes, since they were made at the tail-end of the tube-era. The '50's and '60's Jensens have a warm, musical sound, so those probably do too.

It's probably a later TF model, similar-looking to the old TF-3, but with what looks like a different cab-design (Is that a sealed cab?).

Another reasonable likelihood would be a "Knight" speaker from Allied. Hard to be sure without a bit more info. There were Knight speakers containing almost every imaginable OEM driver over the years.

Yeah, that's quite-possible... I've seen those cabs before though, with the trim running over the drivers like that... Just can't remember what they were... I think it was actually another "Mystery Speaker" thread.

It's interesting to see that Jensen was still using alnico magnets in '67. The alnico P12's are sweet in guitar amps (I used to have a pair of them in a blonde 1961 Fender 2x12 cab... Beautiful speakers I should never have sold), and Jensen made a nice cone-tweeter as well (I don't know a whole lot about the horns they made, but their old ones they used in the big models back in the '50's were supposed to be nice).

The woofers have ceramic magnets, but the mids and horns are alnico. The cabinets are sealed.

After recapping them and listening for a few hours today (with tubes), I'm a bit disappointed. They sound kind of dull. At least they were only $4.
