Speaker Maintenance?

Yeah, I’m gonna reinstall both woofers upside down. And it appears to be 3/4 inch particle board all around or something... not good at identifying wood :(
Also, good day from the east coast, I’ll be finishing up the other speaker today.

If it were 3/4 all the way around, it would be heavy, rigid and not in need of additional bracing. Typically, you can measure the baffle by removing the woofer, as you did, and you can measure the thickness of the sides, top and bottom by looking at the back of the cabinet. Might be worth looking into this.

See the pic, from the back, I can see that the top, sides and bottom are 5/8in thick. At the binding posts, I can see that the back is 5/8in as well. If you see 3/4in all the way around, then bracing is not likely the solution. You may have joint separation causing an air leak or something along those lines.

Oops, I got this text too late... well... the speakers are assembled, and the left channel has no midrange :/
Wires are most likely hooked up wrong. I’ll experiment tonight.
If you cross the wires at the mid, reversing polarity, you will not get a "no midrange" condition.

I finished my bracing and took a listen... my vibration issue is gone now. Maybe it was thinner on the sides, back and top and bottom, but not by much-
Half instead of 3/4 perhaps. It doesn’t vibrate on the back or front because those are already braced.

Excellent

At lower volumes they’re quite nice speakers. I think I would just be cheaper to edit them instead of purchasing new ones (I’m more of a budget guy). My old “speakers” were surrounds from some old Optimus system... these are at least an improvement.
Got any pictures so we can see if anything is visibly wrong if it’s a a speaker design flaw .

Its simply lack of bracing by fisher , my diy sub I had to use gorilla wood glue on because the other brand Inused sucked. Someone said
gorilla brand is trash but it is common for whole bottle to go bad. It works well though, why do while bottles of super glue garden? Air leak built in??

It would be more logical to blame the problem on insufficient wall thickness and/or wrong materials.

They did put one brace in the cabinet. There are plenty of cabinets out there with ZERO bracing that have more output than this fisher speaker system and do not have this problem at all.

Most JBL bookshelf speakers have no bracing, use 3/4in thick cabinets all the way around, have more output than these Fisher speakers yet don't have this problem. If it was just a matter of a "lack of bracing", many other speakers would have this problem that don't.

So the speaker drivers themselves just suck ? Ahh

I would be more inclined to blame wall thickness of the cabinet and materials used to construct the cabinet. This brace even though it corrected the problem to an extent is really just a band-aid to cover up thin and not-so-rigid cabinet walls.

I didn't say anything about the drivers.
