Speaker Plug Screw Thread Size

Hi All. I've got probably 10 sets of plugs and am thinking of replacing all of the screws to new pretty shiny ones before selling some off. I took one plug with me to several hardware stores + home depot, lowes etc and drew a blank on replacements. Just couldn't get a match on the thread even with store personnel help. I'm thinking I'll have to go on line to find what I'm needing. Any one know what thread I'm looking for?

Don't know thread your needing but if you have a machine shop in your area check with them

Metric screws for Japanese gear. I am guessing 3-3.5-4mm diameter. You can measure them for diameter and pitch. Something to learn.
Any thoughts to just cleaning the tarnish off of them with deoxit?

why replace them, they are a special truss head - oversized head, with cross and flat blade drives, and a back side lock / anti back out face.

try deoxit, or even tarn-x to clean them up.

major diameter 3.40mm, minor diameter 3.25mm makes it a M3.5 x 0.6 screw. also not a common thread.

You would need a 3.5 x 0.6 x 5mm long truss head screw, with philips (cross) and flat blade drives, and an EXTRA internal or external tooth star washer.
Probably both in stainless to stay nice.

Sounds like a McMaster-Carr or equivalent source for these special screws.
I can only cringe in anticipation of what he going to ask for them, based on what others are selling them for these days.
I just made up a few mickey mouse plugs for the qx-9900 that I bought recently. My $3 budget plugs at least have shiny screws :)

Actually there's a screw or 2 missing on a couple of pairs. So just figured I'd go ahead and replace them all since some are very rusty. As always markthefixer comes to the recue. Exactly the data I needed. Actually I've got several very nice x2x series receivers including a gorgeous 424 I picked up today that had both sets of plugs that I will be selling off locally. Also have with a couple of nice 1500TD's that will go up for sale locally. They will all include a set of plugs. The extra sets of plugs left over I will sell off separately at fair market price or possibly take offers on BT. Guess I need to rejoin!
