Finally got the AU-X701 back from Champlifier in Alameda CA. I picked up a pair of Paradigm 3SE MKIII off of ebay for $150.00
Running a Denon 1560 CD player into the 701.
The AU-X701 sounds fantastic when playing live acoustic music, jazz etc. I just listened to Neil Young Unplugged - Look Out for My Love turned up to about 3/8 on the volume dial. All I can say is wow. The imaging is incredible. With eyes closed it almost like Neil and the band is playing right there in front of me. Details are all there. Everything felt real and convincing.
I played Spanish Key from Miles Davis Bitches Brew. Again it sounded good. The bass was full and the imaging was great.
I like the Paradigm 3se MKIII's, I'll hang onto them for a while. That being said I will be upsizing to floor standing speakers.
