Speaker Repair Question

Hello,

I just purchased some Ohm Pro 32s and I plan on using them for casual listening. I the foams are in pretty good condition but I noticed there is a tear on the foam of one of the speakers. Is it possible to fix it with an adhesive such as silicone/tape while retaining sound quality?I don't want to refoam if I don't have to.

The foam is rotten needs refoaming.

That doesn't look good, take the time to fix them properly and re-foam

I haven't been able to find foam kits for this model specifically. Are there universal ones I could use?

Yes, you'll need dimensions:

Diameter of cone itself (not including surround)
Type of edge on the cone - slanted or flattened
Diameter of basket
Width and height of 'roll' (the hump part of the surround)

Armed with that, you can go to Rick Cobb (rcobb@tampabay.rr.com) or other surround vendors and find something that fits.

I've never actually bought a kit for a specific speaker. There are way more speakers than surrounds sold specifically for them. That said, Mr. Cobb has always had anything I asked for, and I'm sure he keeps a database of what works for which speakers based on past sales.
