Speaker Stand Question...

DirtyCzech

I'd Buy THAT For A Dollar
Living in NYC has limited me to bookshelf speakers.... UNTIL NOW!!! I'm getting my first pair of floor speakers and was curious of what the ideal height would be for a pair of stands? My "listening room", aka my "cozy" Manhattan bedroom w/ upright futon, is where they'll be set up.

What height of stand should I be using for speakers that measure: 2 feet tall / 14.5" wide / 10.5 " deep? They're vintage too, so they're very heavy.

Thanks,

Chris

in most cases put the tweeter at the level of your ear when your snuggled up in your sweet spot and you should be damn close to ideal

I actually uses a laser level to point my tweeters at each of my ears when sitting in my spot LOL

I only went that far as my speakers can't move once set due to the stands being screwed directly to the floor.

Sitting on the futon the tweeter is how far down from your ears with the speaker where they will go in the room. The stands should be within 2" of this measurement. So measure from your ears to the floor then from the center of the tweeter to the floor. the difference +- 2" is the height of the stands

Ummmmm , I would think floorstanders would stand on the floor? :D Otherwise , ear level for the tweeters would be a good starting point.

Minimum of 24", max of 30"? Just throwing some numbers out. You do want you speakers (tweets) at ear level, or darn close to it.

You can also tilt them back some by placing a small board under their front bottom board and that will direct them toward you too.
