Speaker suggestions?

I am very little more than a neophyte audio junkie, a friend got me heading down the path a couple of years ago, he dropped of a random pair of old Polk audio tower speakers, said they sounded really good, but not good enough for his ear.. so I bought my first Sansui amp, and then my technics sl-23, it sounded good, but not good enough. per suggestions I upgraded the cart on the sl-23, and then I bought a Marantz 2245 reciever, and then got a pair of Dynaco A 25 speakers, it was then I realized how much I hated my Polk audio speakers. I love the warmth of the sound that comes out of the A 25, but my stereo is in a 30' x 60' room and I need to add another pair of speakers.
I'm looking for a pair of front speakers that will complement and play nicely in my vintage setup with my A 25 ' s I do have a current price limit of 250.00 or less but I like to know what's great out there for comparison and having goals... I typically listen to blues, jazz, and classical rock, usually on a couch with the volume at a reasonably low level, but my neighbors are a 25 - 30 min hike from my house, and I do occasionally like to crank it up a bit so power is a plus.

Oh wow... That's a HUGE room.

You know, ... With the music styles you like, you should really start thinking about saving up for some Wharfedale W90's. They could fill a very-large room like that, and you could really get the most out of them with that much space. And they are perfect for blues, jazz, funk, and classic-rock. That's their thing (They're a really-great speaker for '60's and early '70's funk). And they have the same kind of bloomy mids that the A25's do. They'll run you about $400-$500 (unless you get them from someone trying to get top-dollar Fleabay prices), but it's more than worth it for the sound. You COULD look for some W70's, which were the next model down. Those can be found in your price range. Not as big and dynamic as the W90's, but they use the same tweeters and have the same bloomy mids and rich, lush sound. Very-engaging, very-smooth, and a speaker you can listen to all day long. They also don't need much volume to shine, and in a room like that, you would have them running like a thoroughbred without the volume/sound ever taking your head off. I mean, you could also make Altec 19's work really-well in that room, but you won't even catch a whiff of those for three times your budget. That's why W90's are a great choice. They're a TOTL model, but the prices of them and the others in that series have always remained affordable.

What kind of Sansui are we talking? W90's and W70's do well with their early solid-state gear (like the 2000x receiver and others from that period). Plus, they will seriously-upgrade with you when you get into tube gear, which is a natural progression for someone who likes the music you do.

One other thing. Are you looking to run two pairs of speakers in tandem? Or are you just looking for a much larger pair of speakers that will give you a similar sound as the A25's, but a lot more of it? I would think the latter would be the better idea, as it's not an easy task mixing & matching two different brands/models and making it work, and that's not even getting into the kind of load it can put on the amp/receiver. A pair of Wharfedale E90's would easily fill that room without the impedance ever going below/above 8 ohms, and they are even more-efficient than the W90's. That would be another very-doable model, especially in such a monster-sized room like that. The E90's can get LOUD if you need them to and they can handle more power than the W90's (and probably get a little bit louder as well), but both can be run off of low-powered tube gear and will both also do well with early solid-state gear like the early Sansui solid-state stuff), plus both models are similarly-affordable, the E90's maybe even more so than the W90's, which came out a good 15 years earlier.

Oh wait... When you were talking about music, did you mean CLASSICAL-based hard-rock/metal as well as that Trans Siberian Orchestra type stuff? ... That's a little different... Not exactly W90 territory (Originally, I thought you were talking about CLASSIC-rock, not classical rock. Two very-different things). The E90's, on the other hand, would handle that stuff very-well actually, and that humongous room would really let them breathe, whereas I imagine the A25 is probably seeming like an unamplified opera soloist trying to sing in the Royal Albert Hall. With that much room, you might as well be rocking big speakers. I mean, you have the kind of space for Altec 19's, Bozak Concert Grands, Fisher XP18's, etc., not to mention something like the AR9. Not for that price range though. That's why you need to find a nice TOTL sleeper model, something large with multiple 10" or 12" woofers that will get you down below 40hz and also has a really-great soundstage. With that much space, why not use it. But like I said, when you're talking about a few hundred bucks, it won't be JBL or Altec, both of which are overpriced anyway.
