Speaker vibrates when I pick up or put down needle? Normal?

So I just noticed when I had the front of the speaker off that when I put the needle down or pick it up manually the speaker really vibrates quite a bit. Just to test I put on different albums and even played some high bass rap songs from Spotify and the speakers don't do it when the music plays only if I manually pick up or put down the needle.

Is this normal, could it possible hurt my speaker? Hopefully it's ok, I'm just curious. I added a video to show.

You should include a list of components that you are using....

Turntable, cartridge, phono stage, amp and speakers !

I’m thinking it’s a problem between your cartridge and phono stage....
 
I think I'd run a test record (or CD) with a "sweep" tone just for laughs. It might help you narrow the problem down to a specific frequency.

Simply the needle hitting the vinyl and settling in from the outer edge to the groove, no problem, and unless you had the volume really cranked up or the bass tone cranked up it won't hurt anything. Your speaker will move more than that if you have really crank it up on the music unless you have a subsonic filter the simply act of the needle picking up vinyl noise it will cause the speakers to really pump. I doubt you will hear it as its is usually below the frequency that you can hear.
 
Well I think I may just be turning down the volume when I do it. If I used the cue lever it doesn't do that, which I mainly use so I'm going to use that more often than now.
 
Completely normal. If the speaker doesn't BRRRRRAAAAAATTTTTT! when it moves in and out, it's doing no harm.

You have a nice two level muting switch next to your volume control on that Yamaha amp. Before handling the tonearm or using the cueing lever, turn the muting on. That way the volume will stay set where you had it before.
 
What you are doing to your speaker is Terrible. It should never happen with a CA-810 because that Yamaha has a don't vibrate my speakers switch right there on the front panel for easy use. It is called the subsonic filter. The manual says it is good to remove 15Hz down usually caused by record warp, but it will also help keep the woofer from vibrating when you move the needle. Saves amp power and speaker wear.

I usually just engage the tape output, it's necessary anyway to clean the stylus before each side unless you like hearing that scraaaaaaaaatch as the brush rubs the stylus lol.
 
To save abuse to all of your components always use the queuing lever and engage the sub sonic button on the ca 810
Better for everything in the long run.
