SpeakerLab DAS 6

I have a chance to pick up a pair of Speakerlab DAS-6 for 50 bucks. I am having a hard time finding any info on these. I have found DAS 5's and 7's. I know that this company did a lot of build your own sets and they are still in business so just curious about these. Thanks.

I think you should go for it, the bigger DAS were good. They will likely need to be refoamed. I can help you out with that though.

look and listen

Speakerlab is a weird company.
Almost no info on older stuff.
I can't even understand the web site.

They did sell "kits" and I think they still do.
There was a company (Eiken) that make speakers using Speakerlab parts.
Speakerlab used good drivers and stuck their label on the magnet.

Model numbers are sometimes weird. 3s and 7s are big guys, 4s are little boys.

The old ones had the drivers glued in with silicon. No screws, a pain to work on. Either re-glue without screwing up the surround (rubber and rubber sometimes hate each other), or drill and build and seal to make them "better".

For $50, its worth the time to look and listen if you can. They did make good stuff.

Perfect. I'm gonna get em and see what happens. I live in the Seattle area, so I guess I could visit their store if anything goes wrong. I will post pics as soon as I get them. Thanks.
