Show Me What You Got
I know I did one of these "showdowns" a couple of week ago for the price range $300-$400 but considering the space I have available in my room, I'm considering trying bookshelves (or smaller floorstanders). Here are the contenders for speakers less than $150!

KLH Model 6
KLH Model 32
EPI Model 14
Boston Acoustics HD9
Boston Acoustics A60
DCM TimeFrame 500
AR 338
Infinity Kappa 6
ADS L710

Thanks AK!

If it were me choosing, I'd probably go for either with the KLH 6 or the DCM's. And possibly the ADS L710's as well, depending on what I (the hypothetical "I") had to work with for power.

Out of the OP's list, the L-710 would be my choice. I own several others on the list, and have heard most of them - the L-710s are the ones that are actually hooked up and in regular use; they're extremely listenable and enjoyable loudspeakers, top to bottom. They're also surprisingly sensitive for sealed boxes and (even) sound mighty fine with a good vacuum tube amplifier.

The Pioneers in the post above are reputed to be quite good indeed; I haven't heard 'em yet, though, so I cannot vouch for 'em except by reputation.
