Speakers for a Tandberg 2075?

Pootle

I want some speakers for my Tandberg 2075. The room is about 10m x 6m, we usually listen at low to medium volume. We like reggae and dancy tunes with the occasional punk thrash. Bass is important.

We want something in a natural wood finish, either standmounts or floorstanders. Budget about £250. I'm thinking something of a similar age, like the Celestion Ditton 25s which I recently heard and liked.

Any ideas?

Well you are obviously in the UK, so it will take a while for your comrades to drop by. Us USA types do not know what is generally available in your neck of the woods.

Are you willing to go over the channel to pick them up? Markplatz in Holland has some good listings once in a while ... I dunno about France or Belgium...

If it were me, I'd be looking for some Braun (A/D/S) towers like the L990's, or bigger (L1290). They are good at filling a room your size, have decent bass, and are generally in your price range :)

Heh, I am bumping a post from 4 days ago! It won't take them THAT long.

Sometimes postage from over the channel is about the same as within the UK, so it's not always a problem.

Thanks for the advice, I will get Googling.

I actually think you ought to post a new thread... There are very few Tanberg amps or receivers over here. So folks may be shying away from the thread because of teh title?

Maybe something along the lines of "what speakers for a 75 wpc amp (I'm guessing here) in a 18x30 room"

Closed enclosures, preferably Tandberg TL-5010 and TL-5020 seems to be the general recommendation on the Norwegian forums. In matching veneer, of course ;)
I actually have a newly restored TR2075 myself, but I haven't messed around with it it, since I'm going to sell it anyway (I'm more into Japanese separates).

Yes, it depends do you want to have speakers for any 75 watt amp, or do you want it to accompany it for the looks, or age.. I have a pair of B&O M70 for my "testing" purposes, to me they sound very neutral. I like them very much.
Of course, in such a large room, the Tandberg studio monitor would do very well .......It makes you want it if you have the receiver already (myself I was lucky to find a battered veneer pair, but this small bedroom is too small to let them shine).

The studio monitor can handle 100 watts making a perfect match for a TR2075.

The 2075 has decent power reserves and isn't overly fussed driving 4 ohm loads, so there should be plenty of suitable speakers it would match up with.
