Speakers for HK/A300

Im looking into getting an harman kardon a300 for a low power system to use off the grid. I want to try out tubes for a first time. I currently have a citation 16 and 17 system that is pretty hefty with a pair of snell JII speakers. my questions are
1. what speakers would sound good on a a300 tube amp? I prefer to keep the system with 60-70s equipment and I like a decent amount of bass like jbl's tend to offer.
2. what will i most likely find to be a change between my citation 16 and 17 power/pre system to the a300?

I can only answer your first question. I also have an A300, which was recapped this past winter. They sound excellent with vintage KLH speakers. I have model 14Bs, but anything below a model 30 is in the age range you want. Check out this website for info on KLH speakers.
