speakers for SX 828

I recently purchased an sx828 and will need a pair of speakers. This system will be in a living room (12x20 with attached open kitchen 12x12) vaulted 15ft ceiling. Couch will be approx 10ft away.
I'm hopefully going to look at a pair of ads L710 metal grill tomorrow. I also listened to a pair of polk monitor 10 available locally.
Looking for other suggestions. Vintage, used, new.

So what did you think of the 10's? As a fan of Polk Audio Monitors I would say those should pair nicely with the Pio, if you can find some 7's go for it.

The ADS's are no slouches either let us know if you're able to listen to them when you go to look at them

I really liked the 10's , listened to monitor 5's too . I enjoyed them both. The 10's sounded great to my ears with 70's rock and some Tom Waits. Immersive in the small 10x12? room. 5's were good too just not as full or present.

If you get the Polk Monitor 10's make sure to be very careful moving them. The magnets on the mid-woofers are known to shift and seize the voice coils.
Once you get them home safe and sound read up on doing the magnet gluing to keep them from shifting.

I will be sure to read up on them. Thanks for the heads up.

Turns out they were L780/2's. Untested for $50. 3 day return. Hopefully my sx828 will be here in the next 3 days.
I still might buy the monitor 10 s.

Luck was on my side. Both the sx-828 and ads L780/2 s work.
I am still planning on refreshing the cross-overs. Plus open up the receiver and get out some deoxit. Order some speaker plugs.
Really want the monitor 10s too....

FWIW I have really been impressed with my KEF 104/2 being paired with my Pioneer SX939. It's the best those speakers have sounded to me.

I am very happy with the 828 and L780/2. Probably least suited for hard rock out of the listening I did. But Heavy Metal, Tom Waits, and classic rock sounds great to me. Granted, I need to get the speakers off the floor to reduce some of the bass.
