speakers ID Altec?

speaker ID please - I drew this quick - these are at GW the cabs are in good shape - the woofer looks like altec (like my 416 in 846b but smaller - 10 or 12") - the surrounds are accordian on all except tweeter - the tweeter is a horn or semi horn with a soft dome in it......

Not familiar as a factory Altec.................... but they sure sound interesting.

Could you see the backs or input plates? might be a clue there.

The backs had two little metal adjustment knobs (one above the other) and the speakers terminals were just a little lower side by side - the cabs looked alot like the Valencias I have they had better finsh/wood on the fronts - they were about 2/3 size of the Valencias

Not ringing a bell at all. Maybe very late Altec-branded home product (when Sparkomatic or someone like that had purchased the name)?
The Model Nine and Model Nine Series II were a little like the described speakers.

the ones above are nothing like them - i'm 90 percent sure they have a 414 woofer in them - the speakers look like from the 50's or early 60's, maybe ealier - the tweeters what throws me - it is a fabric dome with a small black plastic horn - ithought it was a peizo, but it isnt - there were no marking anywhere either - I may have to run back up to satisfy my curiousity...

Are you positive they are Altecs? They kind of sound like Sansuis to me as per your description.

the woofer is Altec and the wood they used for the cabinent is just like my Valencias - they could be a mismatch of other drivers in them - I'll go up in morning and take a photo /buy them (I'll take a screw driver to look inside) they were $25 - I would have jumped on them anyway but I've got 6 pair of big speakers right now and the wife is ......well you know
