Speakers incoming :-)

Markoneswift

Quartz locked n ready to rock
Hey all, just received a received a text from my buddy at the charity shop and he tells me he has some 'speakers I might be interested in'. This could mean anything because the last time he texted me the speakers were horrid Sony surround towers but the time before, they were JBL LX44s. More details to follow when I pick them up later :-)

Gee, I was about to say today's is almost over until I realized you're over halfway into tomorrow from where I stand. Got me curious here

Well, it's a bit of a bust I'm afraid. The 'speakers' are actually drivers, pairs of tweeters, mids and woofers with no corssovers either. They look like they have been taken out of maybe some home built enclosures. The drivers all carry the 'Delphi' brand name and are dated May 1982. They are labelled 8 ohm on each and appear to have been made in Auckland, NZ. I have no idea who Delphi is / was and the interwebs haven't shown me much. I think I'll stick them in the 'might come in useful one day' pile....

Delphi was a supplier to GM. Basically a spinoff of GM/Delco. Guessing those might have been automotive speakers originally, unless they ventured off into home audio down under?

Well certainly possible although in my experience, most auto speakers tend to be 4 ohm don't they ? And these woofers are BIG - suppose they could have been in an enclosure of some kind. Anyway, the tweeters are bad (both shorted) although the mids and woofers seem good. Here's a few pics :-

A pity the tweeters are shot - they are machined aluminium and quite heavy. I could have found a use for those I reckon :-)
