Speakers Marantz 2216 - newbie

Hi everyone -newbie here. I decided to take the plunge into building an audio system setup for my home office. The room size is approximately 12' x 11'. I really enjoyed the aesthetics of the Marantz 22xx series and purchased a cleaned 2216 receiver a few months ago. Based on my limited understanding the most important factors when considering what type of speakers to consider pairing with it is the sensitivity rating and impedience level (and of course sound).

Given the lower wattage of the receiver (16w per channel) I was thinking a pair of bookshelf speakers would be the way to go. I came across a deal at Best Buy for a pair of Klipsch R-15M speakers with a sensitivity of 94db and 8 ohm impedience. I don't plan on blasting the speakers as the room is not overly large and will be listening to a mix of vinyl genres as well as CDs. Before making a purchase I just wanted to make sure I asked if there were any inherent red flags I should be aware of . Thanks in advance for the feedback as I try to navigate the waters of superior audio sound.

I have a 2230 I used with a pair of EPI 100's and thought it was a nice combo! I also have had some Klipsch Fortes and KG4's that worked very well. YMMV.

The KlipschR-15M should work just fine for your intended use. The only caveat is you may want a subwoofer with those if you like deep, strong bass. I generally look for speakers that reach down into at least the 40-50Hz range if I'm not using a subwoofer.

Second the EPI 100's!

Polk Monitor 5's would also be a good choice.

had some early 90's acoustic research Holographic Imaging M5's with my 2230 in an office about the same size as yours and it was a great combo, and could be heard across the house easily as well...
