Speakers upgrade

I am wondering whether I would make more sense to upgrade my B&W CDM2 speakers or to get a subwoofer to go with them. Any thoughts?

I am in the middle of upgrading what was a Rotel system to a used NAD C720BEE receiver (being shipped now) and Rega Apollo CD player. (I am waiting to see just how much of an upgrade this will be.) The speakers seem like the next thing to improve.

How about staying with B&W and getting CM9? If current S2 are too expensive, try to find used S1 model.
